Join me in the beautiful "Hill Country" of Fredericksburg Texas the week of April 16th thru the 20th 2012 OIL This workshop will focus on zeroing in on a concept and carrying it through to a realized representation. The strongest paintings are the product of an artist who has a clear mental picture of the subject and what it is that he or she wants to convey. The class will do exercises to help you to establish the main motif and " nail it down" quickly. Understanding how to simplify your compositions and classify value relationships and patterns will go a long way toward creating a successful painting. Other areas such as selecting a focal point, color theory and using "on location" studies for large studio pieces will be addressed as well. Lectures and demonstrations along with one-on-one problem solving at each student's easel will help you to resolve any problem areas that you may be struggling with.
